Half-sick of Shadows

Photo Index

Some pix taken recently:

Around the Homestead

  • Bison Farm - Around the corner from the Calahoo homestead
  • Bert and Ernie - Bert the Bison and Ernie the Elk, living a life of leisure on the farm
  • Homestead Backyard - Country as far as the eye can see
  • Helen's Garden - Where I have spent many an hour hoeing and getting sunburned

Dogs

  • Dogs in the Run - Who let the dogs out? Heh. Why, I did ;)
  • Horace - Cranky old man. Good dog though.
  • Ruby - Cranky queen bitch. Not bad dog, except when she's killing other dogs
  • Boots - Camera whore
  • Princess - Twinky, but chases deer effectively

Edmonton Folk Festival

  • Mainstage, Wednesday night, from the nosebleed section of the hill - Really, that's Tracy Chapman front and center. She seemed really nervous when talking (apparently she's quite shy, doesn't even do interviews) but when she sang, it was so powerful. It was just her on stage, no band.
  • Edmonton skyline - Tracy Chapman on the big screen. She researched Edmonton earlier that day and was impressed that we apparently have the biggest composting facility anywhere.
  • Edmonton skyline again - Look, there's Tracy onscreen again! She was really cold.
  • Tracy Chapman on stage - Trust me, it really was her. She was singing "Baby Can I Hold You Tonight" at the time. Was so impressed I went and found a live version on YouTube and ripped an mp3 from it. She sounded exactly like that.
  • Edmonton skyline yet again - Really beautiful as the sun went down. It was cold, but I didn't care. Gorgeous night. Sound was amazing and clear, since it's like a natural amphitheatre, being on a hill and all.
  • Skyline closeup - A little blurry, but pretty nonetheless. The pyramids are the Muttart conservatory.
  • Sarah McLachlan - Crappy photo #1, but it was really her.
  • Sarah McLachlan - Crappy photo #2. She talked a lot about her girls; had taken them to the WEM water park that morning. Thought it was ironic she was sharing personal details right before launching into "Possession," which was inspired by an obsessive fan.
  • Sarah McLachlan - Crappy photo #3. Sarah played a lot of older songs, also "If You Want Me To," which was sad, but then sang an awesome new song about falling in love again. Sounded really full of joy, so given how she writes quite personal songs, sounds like she's moved on.
